Privacy

This page explains what Nell Harbour (Harbour Lamp Press) collects through nellharbour.com, why, and how to have it removed. It is written for readers in Canada and applies to everyone. Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) and privacy law (PIPEDA) apply.

What is collected

  • Your email address, only if you sign up for the newsletter.
  • A record of your consent: the date, the form you used and your address.
  • Anything you send by email to hello@nellharbour.com, such as your message and your address.

Nothing else is asked for. There is no account, no comment box and no payment on this site.

Why

Your address is used to send the free novelette and the newsletter you asked for: at most one message a month and one on each release. It is not used for anything else, and it is never sold, rented or shared for others to market to you.

Consent

You are added to the list only when you tick the consent box yourself and submit the form. The box is never ticked for you. No one is added by hand or from a bought list. You can withdraw consent at any time with the unsubscribe link in every message, or by writing to hello@nellharbour.com. Requests are honoured within ten business days, and usually at once.

Who handles your data

Newsletter addresses are stored and sent through an email service provider acting for Nell Harbour.

Placeholder: email providerName the provider here once chosen, and say where it stores data.

The site itself is hosted by Cloudflare, which delivers the pages and may keep technical logs (such as IP addresses) and aggregate visit counts to run and protect the service. This site sets no cookies and has no analytics, advertising trackers, pixels, or fonts and scripts loaded from other companies. The email provider may count opens and clicks in the messages it sends.

Every message identifies the sender

Each email names Nell Harbour as the sender, includes a mailing address and has an unsubscribe link.

How long it is kept

Your address stays on the list until you unsubscribe. After that the provider keeps only what is needed to remember that you opted out and to show when consent was given. Emails you send to hello@nellharbour.com are kept as long as needed to answer you.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, by writing to hello@nellharbour.com. A reply will follow within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Readers under 18

The books are adult romance with explicit scenes, for readers 18 and over. The newsletter is for adults, and personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18.
